Y-Chromosome Genome Comparison
Extending Y-DNA Haplogroup Knowledge via Collaboration

Downloading a deCODEme SNP Raw Data File

·      Login on the deCODEme.com website

·      Select the “Advanced” tab

·      Select the “Data Download” tab

·      Enter your password and click the “Download Button”

·      Follow the directions below for preparing and submitting your Y-DNA SNP data file

·      Note that if you are not concerned about medical privacy issues, you may simply submit the raw data file (the zipped file) without editing it. If you do so, the data for Chromosomes 1-22, X, and the mtDNA entries will be discarded and will not be published. If you are submitting the raw data file, skip down to the e-mail step below.

·      Open the zip file download and find the data file

·      Right-click on the data file and select “Open With” and then “Wordpad

·      Edit the file to remove the information for Chromosomes 1-22, X, and the mtDNA entries (see detailed instructions for more information on editing the file)
Chromosomes 1-22, X, and the mtDNA entries may contain data about medical information and health traits for you

·      Y-Chromosome entries have an upper case “Y” in each row of data.
Y-Chromosome SNP data does not contain any medical information or information about health traits

·      The first line of “Y” data should begin with: rs11575897

·      The last line of “Y” data should begin with:

·       deCODEme v2:          rs7474471

·       deCODEme v1:          rs9786787

·      The file should contain approximately this many lines of text:

·       deCODEme v2:          1182

·       deCODEme v1:          858

·      E-mail the data file to Adriano Squecco, asquecco@gmail.com

·      When submitting the file, please specify:

·       Surname to use with data (normally yours, but anonymous or geographic location OK)

·       Do you give permission to list your e-mail address (optional)

·       Your Y-DNA haplogroup (see the Analysis/Ancestry/Male Line tab)

·       Geographic location of your earliest known paternal ancestor

·       Ysearch ID if you have done Y-DNA STR testing and submitted the results to Ysearch.org

Thank you for sharing your data, your time, and your ideas and
helping us further our understanding of the Y-DNA Haplogroup Tree.
